My brother's dog

Have you ever heard the stories of a family dog after so many years just snap and turn on the owner? Let me tell you a little story. For almost three years I let my brother's dog live with me; it has been about one year since Hurly (my brother's dog) has lived with me. I had moved to Jacksonville, and I liked to visit my dad and family on the weekends. On one Sunday morning we (Daniel whom is my fiancée, Allie our daughter, and Mathew our son) were on our way to Fernandina to do our regular visits.

We started out at Sharon's house (Daniel's mom and dad's house) were we had lunch and did some catch up on the past week. Well a couple hours went by before we knew it, and Sharon wanted to go to the store, so we decided to go ahead and go by my dad's house. As we were talking about our plans, Allie said "I wanna go with you grandma", "I don't care as long as your mom and dad don't mind" replied Sharon. I said it was fine, so Daniel, Mathew and I went to my dad's. Once we got to my dad's house we discovered no one was home. Although, I still needed to pick up some mail from my dad's house, so I called my dad and he answered, "Hello" my dad said, "Hey dad where are you at? I'm at your house." I responded, "Well, I had to come into work, so I won't be able to see you today" my dad replied sounding a little upset that he was not gonna be able to see me or Mathew. I asked my dad "is the backdoor open because I need to get my mail?" "Yes, its open; just don't forget to close the backdoor when you leave" my dad responded. "Ok, well I'll talk to you later, love you" I said in a hurry.

I told Daniel that I would be right back that I was going to run inside to get my mail. "Ok, don't be too long, I think Mathew is getting tired, and is ready for a nap" Daniel replied. I jumped out the truck and walked toward the back gate and swung it open. To get to my dad's backdoor; you have to walk around the garage. So, I walked around my dad's big red two car garage. Once I made it around the garage I saw Hurly; who is a big bull dog with white, brown and black colors. Some people call it brindle. Hurly was just hanging out on the bottom of the stairs, so I walked up to him "hey Hurly boy what are you doing? Did you miss me?" I said as I was petting his big head with no hesitation. I went to go inside, and the second I put my first foot on the step I heard "grrrrrrr" coming from the dog and before I knew it, he started attacking my left leg. Now, Hurly is on a running chain, so my first instinct was to run. So I started to run; thinking just get far enough to get away from him, but with Hurly on a runner I had to run pretty far. Keep in mind he is still on my leg attacking me. I blacked out, everything was such a blur. The next thing I can remember is the dog going after someone else. I heard in the distance POW POW, and then "baby, baby are you ok?" It was Daniel. The POW POW I heard in the background was Daniel shooting the dog when he jumped over the fence, and Hurly turning toward him to attack Daniel. Daniel ran to my rescue in a hurry to carry me to the truck to look to see how bad my leg was. As Daniel was caring me he asked "are you ok? Do you need to go to the hospital?" I responded, "NO, I'm not ok; look at my leg it had green slimy stuff coming out, and I don't
