Clarence Thomas

Clarence thomas is an American judge, lawyer, and government official who currently serves as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Clarence succeeded in life and he is the second African American to serve on the court. Clarence is known for his quiet, stoical demeanor during oral arguments and his conservative viewpoint that challenges his opponents. Clarence Thomas was born in a small town outside of Savannah, Georgia on June 23, 1948.The retirement of African-American Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall led Bush to nominate Clarence Thomas as the judge's replacement, and he was narrowly confirmed in 1991 despite being accused of sexual harassment by lawyer Anita Hill in public hearings.When not serving on the court, Thomas enjoys sports. He's a fan and supporter of the Dallas Cowboys just like me .He is also a car and NASCAR enthusiast.Thomas is married to Virginia Lamp now Virginia Thomas.The couple adopted his grandnephew Mark in 1997. Thomas also has a son, Jamal, from his first marriage to Kathy Ambush.

Clarence father left him, his older sister, and his mother two years later after his birth. His mother struggled to take care of the family as a single working mother, especially after giving birth to another son after Clarence father left. After a fire left his family homeless, Clarence and his brother was sent to live with his grandfather when he was 9 years old. Clarence grandfather was his most influential role model.When Clarence was sixteen, he fought to get into a boarding school to pursue his dream of becoming a Catholic priest. He was the first black student to get into St. John Vianney Seminary and felt the pressure of being the sole representative of his race during his time at the school, he didn’t want to let anyone down. Clarence had good grades but struggled with the racially bullying he went through during school. In 1967, Clarence entered Conception Seminary at the college level. At this stage in his education, Clarence struggled with the passive stance the Catholic Church had taken in addressing civil rights. He decided to abandon his dream of becoming a priest after Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination in 1968.Clarence Thomas graduated from the college of Holy Cross in 1971 and from Yale Law School in 1974. Now 69 years old and the court's second-longest-serving justice, the Georgia native remains known mostly for his contentious confirmation, his conservative record and his virtual silence during oral arguments, but he also is the court's strictest defender of the Constitution's original meaning, and it has led him to become a force on the far right flank.
