Communications Facebook - Tell All

I decided to choose Facebook for this assignment as I feel that many things that are posted on there, I feel are inappropriate. Also I recently heard that there are currently a few problems in our local high school with students inappropriately writing on each other's Facebook walls. There have even been a few students recently suspended for this behaviour.

I will start off with what I have been noticing on Facebook recently. For the most part, the majority of my friends usually do not post things that will be giving away too much information or things that should be kept private but there are a few people that I believe are crossing the line. For example someone on my friends list recently had maternity/family pictures taken. These pictures were all beautiful, but some of them were in my opinion, much too revealing to have posted on Facebook for everyone to see. Pictures such as this should be kept in your home for personal viewing purposes. Not for the world to see.

The other issue that I have learned about recently is the dilemma that is currently ongoing in the local high school. During class, a student posted on another student's wall about the teacher that was currently teaching the class. This post was seen by a parent and was printed off and brought to the school principal. Both of the students were then suspended and are currently waiting to see if they will be given a criminal record for slander.

It is much too easy these days to make something public that is unethical and should be kept private. I personally am very careful about what I post on internet sites such as Facebook. Not only for the respect of others, but also for their safety and the safety of myself. People need to be more careful with what they post and what the consequences may be.
