The Vietnam War occurred in present-day Vietnam, Southeast Asia. It represented a successful since 1975 attempt on the part of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam, DRVN) and the National Liberation Front (Viet Cong) to unite and impose a communist system over the entire nation. Opposing the DRVN was the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam, RVN), backed by the United States. The war in Vietnam occurred during the Cold War, and is generally viewed as an indirect conflict between the United States and Soviet Union, with each nation and its allies supporting one side. After this war, there were a lot of people who had died, and many places was destroyed. All of those things are like scars, the memories of the war. They were also written down in many memoir and dairies of people who had spent their life in this wartime. Nowadays, we can easily find those books almost everywhere. Among many books that I have read about the Vietnam war, in my opinion, the diary "Last night I dreamed of Peace" by Dang Thuy Tram, and the "Viet Cong Memoir" by Truong Nhu Tang were the most truthful and touching. In generally, there were many differences from experiences to references during the war time between Dang Thuy Tram and Truong Nhu Tang. However, there also had many things in common such as thoughts, the love for their families and their country, and only one dream for the independent day.
