Frankfurt airport is one of the most busiest airport in Germany. In 2014, Frankfurt airport has achieved a new record, it has 59.57 millions passengers passed via the Germany’s largest aviation hub totally. Therefore, Frankfurt airport has a well business achievement and great reputation. In the meantime, Frankfurt airport is facing some management issues and make different impacts in economic, social and environment. In section 1, it mains to analysis the main issues. It also analysis the economic, social and environmental impacts of Frankfurt airport in section 2, in following these,

An analysis of the four kinds of issues of airport management faced by Frankfurt airport

i) Airport safety and security

In Frankfurt airport, since employees has many different working mode and ID cards, so that they need to have different different types of ID cards with individual access authorisations. And cardholders must be given official verification by the authorities and they have to accept the training. Although Frankfurt airport provide some safety training for employees, they still failed to detect 50 percent of dangerous weapons in the security check process. From the survey of European Commission, they discovered that security staff unable to spot devices designed to explosives, simulate guns and other dangerous objects in X-ray scans. It would easily smuggle banned items past security, and proved that the poor training of airport security personnel is the major issue. If Frankfurt airport is not improve the security quality, it could be stripped of its status as a Schengen Area airport. It means passengers travelling via it would have to undergo additional security checks on arrival at other airports in the border-free Schengen zone. In addition, Frankfurt airport is the largest airport in Germany, which handle 58 million passengers last year. And it is the major international hub for connecting flight. If it happen any mistake in security, it will raise grave concerns and effect the connecting flight of Lufthansa airlines. Therefore, it will seriously affect the reputation of Frankfurt airport (Justin Huggler, 2014).

ii) Operational delays of cargo

In order to serve more passengers, Frankfurt airport has begin construction of new terminal 3. It also create a comfortable environment for passenger who can enjoy working, shopping, eating and relaxing. But at the same time, Frankfurt airport experiences significant cargo delays since it lack of labour shortage and surplus of air cargo. The airport warehouse is completely flooded by cargo, and no more space available for sorting cargo. Also, some of waiting times for some trucking services have reached up to 10 hours or even longer, most of exported air cargo is returned to the freight company's warehouse
