A) Gunter

At the beginning we can see that Gunter had an image of change as a nurturer sometimes but mostly as a director, which means that he was trying to analyse and control the situation, he was able to recognize an important turnover as a real issue for the Green Mountain Resort. In order to solve this situation and to find an efficient solution he decided to call a consultant. This situation analysis made him a coach or a counsellor for people working within the Resort because he was showing to way to take and he was trying to give an impulsion to this situation.

Gunter was acting as a leader, with the consultant they tried to find a solution; they establish a standard in training for the hospitality sector. Because of its motivation and ability to analyse the situation they found a solutions to their problem, Gunter transform its liabilities into assets, yes they will have turnover, but a high qualified turnover. This High quality turnover its not really a bad elements, its even at the opposite because Gunter can always have now people motivated and ready to work.

B) The hospitality literature

In this special situation we can see that the hospitality literature adopt the role of a navigator, the navigator role is similar to the director role but this one is only given so much power. In this role, the control of a given situation and the outcomes are partly emergent rather than completely planned and result from a variety of influences, competing interests and processes.

Here, It recognized the turnover difficulty of the resort, a difficulty that need to be also solve in the hospitality sector. The hospitality literature was also able to advance propositions regarding the diminution or elimination of a problem and its effects within an organization.

C) The consultant

We can see clearly in this situation that the consultant is taking the role as an interpreter The interpreter role is based on the assumption that managing change places the change manager in the position of creating meaning for the other organisational members, helping them to make sense of various organisational events and actions. We can see in this situation that the consultant tried to interpret differently the problem of turnover put forward by Gunter. His interpretation changes the problem perception in order to help find an appropriate solution. Gunter was able now to look at this turnover problem as an asset for the company especially regarding the training part. It is very interesting to see how can you turn a dilemma into a competitive advantage for the resort.
