Harley Davidson Executive Summary

In the course of the past 100 years the world had undergone a great metamorphosis. Two world wars and astronomical leaps and bounds in technology have changed our lives forever. But one thing remains unchanged; Harley-Davidson is still the undisputed leader in manufacturing and selling motorcycles. Created in 1903 in the Davidson's backyard a new company rose and established itself as a force within the internal combustion transportation industry. It is not surprising that Harley has been around for 100 years, all one needs to point to is their mission statement. According to their 2001 annual report, Harley-Davidson's mission statement is as follows,

"We fulfill dreams through the experiences of motorcycling, by providing to motorcyclists and to the general public an expanding line of motorcycles, branded products and services in selected market segments."

Existing Vision

Harley-Davidson, Inc. is an action-oriented, international company, a leader in its commitment to continuously improve our mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholders (customers, suppliers, employees, shareholders, governments and society). Harley-Davidson believes the key to success is to balance stakeholders' interests through the empowerment of all employees to focus on value-added activities.

Harley Davidson is a global organization that is dedicated to using advanced technology to produce the most superior motorcycle in the domestic and international markets. Our philosophy is to stay competitive and continue growth worldwide to remain profitable and survive. Harley Davidson employees are the foundation of our company and they are the driving force behind the Harley Davidson name. We are able to compete because of the total team effort of our employees. Harley Davidson is devoted to fulfilling dreams of customers and we believe that there is not a motorcycle riding experience like a Harley Davidson's. We push excellence though our Harley Davidson bar and shield logo that says superior quality. Harley believes in honesty and loyalty and these morals are the heartbeat of our organization. We continue to do our part in supporting all environmental laws in every country
