The two songs I've chosen to compare each other to is "Just The Way You Are" by Bruno Mars and "Who Says" by Selena Gomez. Bruno's song was a new single released on July 21,2010 and Selena's song was also a new single but was released recently on March 10,2011. Both these songs hit it off pretty well, fans were crazy about the songs and it's still playing on the radio till this very day. While these two songs both have the same theme, which is artists explaining to this person that they are beautiful just the way they are. The way the are sung, the music styles and the tone are somewhat the same. In "Who Says", Selena seems more strong with her words in the lyrics but implying that don't listen to what others have to say about your looks, just be happy the way you are. Also, in "Just The Way You Are", Bruno sings with a soft tone because he is in love with a girl and trying imply that he likes her just the way she is. These songs are messages to every girl and women that may feel imperfect when they are just perfect in their own special way but the difference between these songs is that Selena is singing to more than one person, while Bruno is singing to one girl.

The theme all comes from the lyrics of both songs. First with "Just The Way You Are", the lyrics make it very clear when he says "When I see your face/There's not a thing that I would change/Cause you're amazing/Just the way you are/"(B. Mars). He is trying to tell the girl to be okay with the way she looks because in his eyes she looks perfect. Then he goes on to say, "And when you smile/The whole world stops and stares for awhile/Cause girl you're amazing/Just the way you are/"(B. Mars), that when she walks out into the world that yes everyone is looking but not because your face looks different but because her face is beautiful. Also when he says "Oh you know, you know, Id never ask you to change/If perfect is what you're searching for/Then just stay the same/"(B. Mars), the girl is trying to be her best in front of him but what she doesn't realize is that she is perfect already, and he trying to tell her that everyday. Now with "Who Says", Selena approaches this theme differently, her lyrics are inspiring and direct and to all the girls that can connect to it. This lyric is what starts the song, "I wouldn't want to be anybody else/You made me insecure/Told me I wasn't good enough/But who are you to judge/When you're a diamond in the rough/I'm sure you got some things/ You'd like to change about yourself/But when it comes to me/I wouldn't want to be anybody else/(S. Gomez). I love her first approach to it, it's giving us an idea of what this song is all about. How it's so easy for a person to put us down and change our views about the way we look, but then she says she wouldn't want to be anyone else because she realizes that she is no beauty queen she is just her beautiful self. Then she almost is trying to stop the person from putting down these girls by saying "Who says you're not perfect...you're not worth it...you're the only one that's hurting/Trust me/That's the price of beauty/Who says you're not pretty... you're not beautiful/Who says/"(S. Gomez). In a way its sounds like she is full-on with her voice, I wouldn't say
