“Can we go home now?” Lexi complained to her mother, after a long, tiring day at the mall. Obviously annoyed by her bickering, she gave her no answer and quickly walked right passed me. “Ugh” Lexi grunted rushing past many stores in the mall complex, but something seemed different about the the mail to her today. As she stopped to catch her breath from the weight of all the shopping bags, she noticed a sign hung outside of a new store called “Pets Palace”. The sign read : “ALL KITTENS 25% OFF.” She felt as if the the store was luring her in, without thinking she crossed the street and went up to the door. Her mom rushed over with curiosity as she peered through an open window skimming around the room until something caught her eye. A white and black marble kitten lay inside a cage playfully chewing on a rubber to fish. Lexi knew that she would feel guilty if she didn't walk into the store right now, so she ran inside to its cage. She knelt down and looked into its pleading eyes, telling her to take it home. “Just 75 dollars…” a voice said behind her “ A shame not to adopt, at such low prices.” As Lexi got up she realized it was just a store clerk and also noticed her angry mother crossing her arms behind him. Before she could come any closer, Lexi quickly rampaged through her messy purse. Until she found her wallet, summed up her money, and let out a big sign. Lexi was $49 short!

After being pulled home by her mom Lexi searched the house from head to toe for any abandoned money. An hour or two later she only came up with 9 dollars exact. But she was far from giving up, “What the easiest way to get 40 buck…” she thought over and over again. Suddenly it hit her-a car wash. She could charge ten bucks a wash, that way in four car washes she would the proud owner of a kitten. After making some signs that night she woke up bright and early to get set up.

She got a foldable table and chair and placed them in her front lawn. Lexi then brought out her signs and let them lean against the table. For about three hours Lexi sat out in the blazing sun, and only two cars showed up. After giving one car a full, deep cleaning; she began on the other car. Later that day both owners showed up, one giving her a five dollar tip and the other gave her any left over pocket change for my hard work. Since the heat was so dreadful today Lexi realized another way to make money, lemonade. She grabbed a few things from the fridge and stirred up my mom's secret recipe. After remodeling the stand, Lexi waited, and before she knew it their was a crowd in her yard; asking for a cold, fresh glass of her signature lemonade. Time flew by and before she knew it, dinner was ready. Lexi gathered all her belonging, shut down the stands, and counted up the money. A big smile lit up her face, she had 13 dollars extra!

At the end of the day, the feeling Lexi got when she did something amazing by herself was priceless.
