Legalize Marijuana

Legalize It...........

Marijuana is an issue of public health, not the police. Our US government is a trillion of dollars in debt. The government wastes tens of thousands of dollars on the war on drugs per year. This destroys families and ruins lives. The US is losing billions in taxable revenue. Marijuana is discrimated against by legislators that are too scared of being referred to as a druggie. Legislators won't stand up for what they believe in, only the self interest of the corporations they represent. From an economic standpoint, there would be numerous benefits to legalizing marijuana. A new industry could emerge that would allow people to buy and sell marijuana without being incarcerated. The illegal pot dealer that is currently making their "dirty money" under the table, and possibly living on welfare or other government aid, could start a profitable business. They would already have a client base, which is a key component in a sales environment this being noted the war on drugs would be a help to our governments finical situation and the general economies finical needs Smoking and possing marijuana should be legalized and this should be ones personal choice.

By legalizing marijuana the taxes that could be collected on the naturally grown plant could potentially help get our country out of debit. In states like California where it is legal the state is doing very well with the process and proceeds from which it's sold. In California marijuana is controlled and manufactured in a safe environment; where we know exactly what the consumer is purchasing all the way down to the chemicals sprayed on the plant. This being done makes the sale of marijuana safe for its consumers and since it's controlled by our government it's also safe for our community. Another plus to the legalization of marijuana would be on our judicial systems state and federal, prisons that are currently over populated would start to have more room for the violent crimals that really need to be reablulitated. This law would also affect our government's debit, because all of the taxes dollars being spent to incarcerate these "pot dealers" and send them through the court systems we will now be able to spend that money toward helping the United States pay off some of our debit. So really by legalizing marijuana our government would become profitable and our prisons would become less crowed this legalization could improve two very major problems.

The days of reefer madness are pretty far gone, but the American public is still vastly uninformed about marijuana, particularly concerning its myriad of amazing health benefits. The health benefits that marijuana possesses makes it simply baffling that medical marijuana is not legal in most of the country, and still there retains such a negative reputation. There is a lot of unfounded rhetoric that states smoking pot can cause lung cancer because you're inhaling smoke, like cigarettes. This simply isn't true. Cigarette smoke causes cancer because the tobacco is radiated whereas marijuana isn't. In fact, the American Association for Cancer Research has found the marijuana actually works to slow down the growth of tumors in the lungs, breasts, and brain.
