Despite the changing world we live in, Shakespeare’s timeless classic Macbeth gives us insight into human values within our modern world. Being over four-hundred years old, Shakespeare’s Macbeth still adapts with our modern world, mainly because human nature has remained unchanged since the Renaissance era. Macbeth is an enthralling story about a loyal soldier who delves into the depths of darkness, seeking power regardless of the consequences. This play still remains very relevant to a modern audience because it represents these kinds of problems throughout our everyday lives. Ambition is a powerful theme in Macbeth and can be seen in today’s society. Ambition is defined by the drive to succeed, it is what opens the windows of opportunities in life and grants success. Macbeth delves into this fascinating theme, displaying how a person’s life can change through his actions. The theme of greed also correlates with our everyday lives. Greed is something that has plagued humans for centuries, and is seen through Macbeth’s selfishness. His selfish desires lead him into committing horrible acts, causing guilt and paranoia. All these mesmerizing themes are what have created this outstanding masterpiece.

Ambition is a crucial aspect within Macbeth; it was ambition for power which influenced Macbeth, blinding him to go against his morals. This theme can relate to our modern world, because all of us are faced with moments in our lives which we must decide between right and wrong. If we decide against our morals, it can significantly affect our lives, similar to how it affected Macbeth. This can clearly be seen throughout the play, as Macbeth strives to fulfil his ambitions that he loses control of the honourable person he once was. This is revealed in the play, when Macbeth states “For my own good, All causes shall give way. I am in blood stepped in so far that, should I wade no more, returning were as tedious as go o'er”.
