Personal Thinking Styles

Primary personal thinking style based on my profile is "Achievement". Backup personal thinking style is "Conventional" based on my circumplex.

As LSI guide explains how Achievement style is characterized by

* A focus on achieving a standard of excellence

* The belief that things have specific and definable causes; a lack of belief in fate, luck or chance

* The knowledge that individual effort counts

* A commitment to making things better

* A preference for setting and accomplishing realistic, attainable goals, rather than goals imposed by others

* A belief in the benefits of asking for and giving honest feedback

In my personal or work lifestyle I strongly believe achievement lifestyle reflects my actions. I do focus on commitment and try to making things better. I normally try to work my best with minimal supervision and resists instances to control what I do and how I should do it. I try to do my work well and derive satisfaction from setting and taking help from my goals. Due to nature of my job (project / program management) I do understand things could go wrong and I always create backup and contingency plans to support various projects schedules.

I strongly believe rules are important to extent that they support overall process. Since style clearly explains represents a preoccupation with adhering to rules and established procedures, maintaining a low profile. It reflects personalities with nature to blend in with a particular environment to avoid calling attention to ourselves. It says people with this lifestyle rely on established routines to determine how to do things and if there is a risk losing sense of uniqueness and individuality.

However I don't agree to results 100% from what it shows. I certainly promote ideas beyond rules however there are somewhat fine boundaries. For e.g. if I am working on a project to create distilled water bottles, I would definitely stick to rules for creating bottles as a final product not can or cubes however bottles can be of any style following certain dimensions about height, weight and other measures. On the same page they can be as creative as could be and I would go to any level to promote ideas and creativity. I take pride and am famous to promote my peers and staff working under me to let them think out of the box.

I do believe one of the style that is working against me is "Power". As illustrated in LSI it also falls in AGGRESSIVE/DEFENSIVE Style. As rule clearly explains how Power scale measures tendency to associate our
