Project Goals Simulation

The Huduma Foundation is a Non-governmental Organization (NGO), which rescues and rehabilitates wild animals in the national parks in Kandivar. Increased poaching there is an imbalance of wild animals in specific national parks. The Ungabo National Park has given the foundation a project because there are a decreasing number of elephants in the Ungabo Park and over abundance of the elephants in the Zakinaka National Park. SO the project is to add to the population of the Ungabo National Park by taking elephants from the Zakinaka National Park. Doing this will improve the equilibrium of the two National Parks.

I have been recruited as a project manager in the Huduma Foundation to run and complete this project. In doing this job I realized that project management is required in almost everything that an individual must do. The project that I must complete has the usual triple constraints of time, risk and procedure. There were steps that have to be taken in order for the project to stay on schedule but not put the project at risk or the elephants. Like in any project there were some unforeseen issues to come up which required a decision in order for the project to move along smoothly. The first day of the project I had to sequence the activities to take place, which created the work breakdown structure (WBS). In sequencing these activities there were an unforeseen problem that arises with one of the trailer trucks that were going to use to transport the elephants. A decision had to be made that would not jeopardize the project or the elephants. In making this decision there will be issues with the triple constraints of time, risk and quality. The decision that was made to get a replacement truck did have an effect on the time but because we chose the short cut we were able to gain back that time and more. If the wrong decision had been made it would have thrown the schedule completely off.

In completing this simulation my perspective of project management has been verified. This simulation has shown me that projects exist when we least expect it. There are several things that take place in the workforce that require project management. Program management makes projects easier to initiate, plan, implement and close with the least amount of resistant of the triple constraints. In planning for a project an individual can anticipate bottlenecks by analyzing anything that could possibly come up that would prevent the project from being successful. It is important that the project manager is prepared for anything to happen and is capable of making the best decision for the projects completion.

There are occasions when a project manager has to crunch while completing a project but there has to be a decision made on what the manager will compromise on and if it would involve a risk or time. If I had to make an important decision like that my compromise would be with time because there can be an adjustment somewhere to recoup the
