The nature of Starbucks is to make each interaction, each visit a unique experience. Based on connecting with an individual, Starbucks tries to make that same connection with business and within the community. The corporate responsibility of Starbucks is to build a company with soul" included a broad-based program of corporate responsibility, orchestrated mainly through the Starbucks Foundation. Starbucks is known for trying to make the world a better place than they found it. Their mission statement is: "to inspire and nurture the human spirit - one person, one cup and one neighborhood at a time." ("Starbucks corporation," 2012)

The size of the corporation continues to grow. The company has over 17,003 as of October 2011, all over the world which includes Starbucks Coffee and Seattle Best Coffee locations. Employees better known as partners with in the company are treated with respect and dignity. They offer two landmark programs for their partners: comprehensive health coverage for eligible full- and part-time partners and equity in the company through Bean Stock.

A human resource challenge that Starbucks will face is to ensure that the company's image as a positive employer while surviving its rapid expansion program, and to find the right kind of people in the right numbers to support these expansion plans. Considering the rate at which the company has been expanding, it is questioned as to whether Starbucks would be able to retain its spirit even when it doubled or tripled its size. as partners contributing to the success of the largest coffee company in the world, and to align HR leaders and stakeholders to gain support for a focused emphasis on creating world-class programs for employees.

Determine the major legal concerns of the organization and recommend how these concerns should be addressed.

Starbucks believes that conducting business ethically and striving to do the right thing are vital to the success of the company. Starbucks has a Business Ethics and Compliance program that supports Starbucks Mission and helps protect the culture and the reputation by providing resources that help partners make ethical decisions at work.

The program develops and distributes awareness materials, including the Standards of Business Conduct; facilitates legal compliance and ethics training; investigates sensitive issues such as potential conflicts of interest; and provides additional channels for partners to voice concerns. Partners are encouraged to report all types of issues or concerns to the program through their choice of the offered communication channels. ("Starbucks Corporation, 2012)
