The Kindle is an electronic consumer device commonly known as an e-reader. It uses wireless connectivity to allow customers to download e-books, newspapers, and magazines. It is one of the fastest growing consumer devices and has revolutionized the world of digital print. The Kindle displays the text on screen using E Ink electronic paper technology. It provides easy viewing in sunlight, an extraordinarily long battery (2-3 weeks), and is essentially acts as a portable bookstore.

The first Kindle Product was introduced in November, 2007 at a price of $399. The Kindle 2 was introduced in February, 2009, at a price of 359. The Kindle 3 was introduced in August, 2010, at an original price of $239. Currently, that price has decreased to $114. While each new model improves, the Kindle 3 is viewed as clearly superior to the previous two. While there is no breakthrough technology, it is lighter, thinner, has faster page turns, and more contrast. For an additional price, the user can also purchase a custom leather case with an attached book light that powers from the Kindle battery.
