What It Takes

What does it take to be a successful college student? It's not all that hard to do, but it does take more effort than succeeding in high school did. There are many right and wrong things to do. Picking the wrong one can definitely end your college career, not for good, but at least for that term. If you know it's not a good choice, I wouldn't advise you to do it.

ATTEND CLASS. It's one major thing you need to do in order to be successful. Not attending class causes you to miss out on needed information, information you can't ever get back. For example, a student who stays up all night partying, and wakes up the next morning with a hangover, probably won't attend class. This student is missing out on participation points, notes, ideas, and anything else being said during class. Success isn't going to be found this way, so attend all classes. But you won't get too far with only attending class, there are other objectives.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Being successful means doing your homework, so you can pass your classes. You can't earn a degree if you can't pass the required courses. For example, someone who misses class two times a week, on a weekly basis, won't come out with an A due to all the assignments they're not getting. Instead, their grade will more than likely be a C, if not lower. So if you're looking for the A you want and deserve, pay attention, take notes, study, turn in your assignments, attend class, and you should be fine. Being successful does include more than two just these two points.

YOU NEED MONEY. Having wealthy parents isn't what I'm saying, but money is needed. College isn't free. Several items have some sort of cost. There's a fee to register for college, buying books and supplies, tuition, room and boards, etc. Walking into college empty handed won't get anyone too far. But don't freak out, there are options on receiving money. Some examples are financial aid, taking out loans, parents helping out, a part-time job, or whatever ways you have to earn money. Plus, when you're successful, it shouldn't be a problem paying it all back.

As most know, there are several other ways to be successful. If you notice your friends aren't passing their courses, don't follow in their footsteps. Having money isn't as important as attending class and doing your homework, but it's still a must. Being successful isn't all that hard if you follow the right paths. Just remember to attend class and do your homework, and you should be fine.
