Intorordinary

Wilfren Owen's poetry is shaped by an intense focus on extradonary human experiences.

He focused on his first hand experiences of the realities of conflict and its emotional and psychological impact rather than any glorified trappings.

This is shown in his poem's "dulce et decorum est" and "Anthem for doomed youth" with an analysis of pitty and suffering.

- He personifies the conflict, capturing " The monstrous anger of the guns... the shrill demented choirs of wailing shells" it seems that it was waste of life that was Owen's greatest concern.

- The use of pity in both poems creates a personal connection with the reader and draws them into the atmosphere.

Para2

- Owen also uses suffering in his poetry to awaken the social conscience and public outcry as a way to stop the senseless butchery.

- In "Dulce Et Decorum Est" visual and aural imagery is used to put the reader directly into the scene as they watch, listen and even taste the soldiers agony as he is suffocated by the gas "gargling from froth corrupted lungs...vile incurable sores on innocent tongues".

- Graphic similies and metaphors enhance the visual imagery of suffering, such as "floundering like a man in fire or lime".

- "Anthem for doomed youth" portrays suffering through the pain and mourning of the
