The Organisation

ABC Primary School is a government mixed (co-ed) school located in a housing estate in the northern part of Singapore. The school runs programmes for its pupils from 7.30am to 5.00 pm.

Our Mission

We seek to give our pupils a strong foundation so that they are able to cope in all psychosocial dimensions when they proceed to their secondary schools.

Our Vision

Our vision is to be a learning hub and to be a school of the future.

Services & Delivery

We seek to create a professional learning community that nurtures and creates collaborative structures with a focus on teaching and learning; provides a rigorous educational programme of learning experiences with clear, focused activities and outcomes within a flexible setting and structure; engages in an active partnership with parents and community; manages through a decentralised but accountable system that demands a substantially different role for every person who becomes part of this learning community and spurs all members to be actively engaged in lifelong learning.

Marketing & Sales Strategy

The school aims to delight its customers but introducing special programmes to enhance its curriculum and co-curriculum areas. We organize 'Open House' every year to market the school and we distribute flyers to the residents in our neighbourhood. Regular newsletters featuring our school functions and achievements are issued to all our stakeholders. We also conduct talks and workshops for parents so that they will be able to help their children at home.

Target Market

We aim to attract children living in the newly built residential buildings to our school.

Management Team

The school is headed by a principal assisted by heads of department, teaching and non-teaching staff.

Future Plan

Our clearly formulated shared vision and mission statements, defined within our school philosophy, set the momentum for us to work towards a school of happy learners and achievers, a learning community that values its people and one that believes in investing in its people. We seek to build a collaborative school culture that promotes collegiality, high commitment and high consensual decision-making. We also seek to build a responsive and resilient organisation by accelerating the culture of teamwork in the school and by enabling staff to increase their capacity to change, grow and thrive in an environment of continuous learning so that we will always be in time for the future.

II. Description of Organisation

ABC Primary School is a government mixed (co-ed) school located in a housing estate in the northern part of Singapore. The school has an enrolment of 1300 pupils in 31 classes functioning in one session. The present enrolment of pupils comprises Chinese, Malay, Indian and other races.

1 Philosophy

We firmly believe that every child has his/her worth and potential for growth as he/she is a unique individual, gifted in his/her own way.

2 Mission Statement

Our school mission is to inculcate in pupils the values and responsibilities to become gracious and loyal citizens, and imbuing in them the love for learning and an appreciation of the aesthetics.

3 Vision

Our shared vision is to progressively shape our school into a school of the future; a choice school - a school that parents will entrust their children to because they believe their sons/daughters will leave school with

* a set of spiritual and moral values -- honesty, integrity and good judgement

* a complement of basic skills -- linguistic, mathematical, scientific, artistic, physical and social

* an enquiring and discriminating mind and a desire for knowledge

4 Services & Delivery

In pursuing our mission and vision, we dedicate ourselves to delighting our customers, namely, pupils, parents and stakeholders; and providing a wide spectrum of activities for our pupils either for enrichment or for remediation.

Pupils

The school looks into the physical and emotional wellness of every pupil in a

psychosocial environment by:

* creating a safe and secure environment conducive to learning

* initiating a Character First! Programme to support our school vision of developing sound and morally upright pupils

* promoting various National Education projects to help achieve the desired outcomes of education

* involving pupils in community involvement projects

* infusing thinking and process skills into the curriculum

* providing experiential learning to develop creativity and promote lifelong learning for continuous improvement

* providing a varied Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) programme to surface and maximise talents of pupils

* forming a Health And Fitness (HAF) Club for obese (excessively overweight) pupils

* providing financial assistance to needy pupils, subject to the compliance with a set of criteria

* organising enrichment courses for pupils to develop skills in Information Technology and core subjects

* creating opportunities to develop leadership qualities in pupils

* referring pupils with emotional and behavioural needs to professional bodies for counselling and guidance.

Community

The school places strong emphasis on the role of other stakeholders. We have taken steps to establish an effective partnership
