The Dynamics of the World of Business

Presentation Specifications

Presentations are 15 minutes in duration followed by a 5-minue question-and-answer period. Presentations should follow the following outline:

* Introduction - Introduce yourself. Set the stage for your presentation with a brief history of your organization. Talk about milestones, major innovations, crises and their resolutions, and so on. Tell your audience about the impact of macro-environmental factors on your organization.

* The Present - What is happening with your organization right now? Speak to new developments, current crises, present trends, and competition.

* 5-year Analysis - Create a table of sales, cost of goods sold, gross margin, and net income spanning 5 years; include component percentages and percentages of increase/decrease from year to year. Note significant changes and probable causes.

* The Future - What does the future hold? Will there be growth or decline? New products or services? Once again discuss macro-environmental factors but this time focus on their impact on your organization's future.

* Summation - Provide a brief wrap-up with a personal perspective. Would you do (have done) things differently if you were CEO? Would you advise your audience to buy stock in your organization?

You must use PowerPoint slides to support your talk; you may not use note cards or read your slides. You may add interest to your presentation with props, a demonstration, sampling, audio/video clips, etc. (Limit audio-visual clips to one minute.) Grading will be based on research, content, oral presentation skills, and your ability to hold the class's interest.
