In the work place, a boss that bullies is someone that has to be addressed to a higher authority, unless this individual actually owns the business. In the event of this, the only thing someone can do is to find another place of employment. This may not be what one wants to do, but since there isn't any other higher authority, and as long as there hasn't been any laws broken by the employer, there isn't much an employee can do. When it comes down to organizational justice, there are three types, distributive, procedural and interactional. In this instance, the situation more closely resembles interactional justice than the other two. The reason for this is because interactional justice is "based on the perceived fairness of the interpersonal treatment received, whether those involved are treated with sensitivity, dignity and respect, and also the nature of the explanations given." Bullying can be done in many ways and can take many forms. Regardless of the situation, each person should be treated equally in the work place. By someone using their superiority to influence a subordinate for something is wrong and proves the person is a bully that has mental issues that are taken out in the fashion of authority. By someone standing up to one of these individuals, they will either accomplish what they set out to do and that is to stop the boss from bullying them, or they are fired for insubordination. Being fired for insubordination is another way for the superior to show off their authority and cause others to give in to them when they are bullied. This leads to employees not wanting to go above and beyond the call of duty to do that extra for the company and it can cause the company to lose some valuable employees.

One of the first things to come to my attention was Adler's ERG theory. In the Adler's ERG Theory, it explains that three cores need to be present and satisfied in order to have complete satisfaction in the company. These three core values are existence, growth, and relatedness. There are the three requirements that have to be given to all employees by the employer and/or managers in the company. Let's go over them in better detail as we see how each one of these has either a direct or indirect effect on the company and the performance of the employee.

Existence

Existence is the basic needs of an individual when it comes to psychological and safety of the person. Even though psychological needs are being met at the work place, if the employer is having the employees or even one individual employee work in an unsafe environment, this can have a drastic effect on the performance of this individual. This can lead to performance issues and attendance issues as well. When one person is sick all the time or constantly turning in bad work, there is obviously something wrong taking place that would cause this. Whether it is a personal problem or a boss that is being unfair to this person, bulling is wrong regardless of the situation. It could even cause someone to not come to work because they are afraid to go to work because of the treatment they are receiving from the employer. The bullying in a work place does not always have to be verbal, at times it can be physical as well which can lead to assault charges being brought against the person.

Growth

Growth not only means the growth of the company, it also means the growth of the individual with in the company itself. If a person is not allowed to grow within the company, it can have a direct effect on the self esteem of that person. If an employee starts to develop low self esteem because of being bullied at work, they can also start to lose the grasp on what the reality of their own personality. By these two areas being affected negatively, it can cause their motivation to be affected as well. Doubts will develop on the skills of the employee and the motivation to do better and prove themselves as good employees will diminish as well eventually. Later this can lead to case of insubordination if the employee ignores the requests to do more for the company and it can cause them to have personal problems because they need to succeed and achieve has also diminished. This causes them to go into a pattern of everyday work where no progress is made in their career and no changes are being made to what they are doing.

Relatedness

Relatedness is more on a social aspect of being bullied. For example if there is already an over-whelming amount of stress or trauma in a person's life, being bullied at work is not going to help them do any more or achieve more than they have before. In actuality this causes them to refuse to work with others and lose the ability to work well with others for fear of being bullied. This is both a psychological and social problem that one develops simply by being bullied t work. If one develops the inability to work well with others, it cause this emotion to overflow to their personal life and cause a family to break apart because the person does not feel the need to spend time with their family.

Being a Victim in The Workplace

Being a victim of bullies in the work place isn't something anyone wants to go through. It is better to put this into a person consideration and look at it from a personal point
