‘Taste the World’

  1. Main Concept and Idea

  1. Nowadays circumstances

Restaurant industry is developing every year since 7 years now on. In 2016, it is expected to reach 783 billion dollars and the industry is the second largest private sector fort the Countries. Eating out has become an occasion and an event in people’s life and the majority of events happen in a restaurant. People go out, not just to eat, but to get together, to refresh after a long day, to transact business meetings, dating … etc. In our developing world, people are more open-minded to try new things out and to know different cultures. More and more different restaurants are opening in every country, based on a different style. The raise in the cultural mix in the countries eventuates the opening of different cultural and national places with traditional food and kitchen. Globalization also has an effect, as it gives to the restaurants a lot of new possibilities. The ingredients that have been difficult before to obtain, now can arrive in a half day and overseas delivery became also possible. It also gives marketing potential as some restaurant can become worldwide famous with appropriate marketing tools.

Overall we can say that the restaurant business is a great field today and can be very successful with a lot of attention and consideration.

  1. Our Concept

Even though, it is true that in the bigger cities there can be found almost every nation’s kitchen, they all build up only in one concept. In Turkish restaurants you can found Gyros and Kebab, in a Italian restaurant you can eat really good pasta and pizza, but what happens if you would like to go out with a very various group of people, and all of them have different taste and cultural background? Than it is very difficult to find a place where everybody can become satisfied in what they like and prefer to eat. If a businessman from Hungary would like to take out a Chinese and a Mexican client for a business dinner, and wants to show that his country can also prepare their food in an excellent way, which client’s country should he choose?

Based on this problem and its circumstances, our idea is to open a multicultural restaurant where people can taste different cultures’ food and choose between a wide-range of possibilities. The restaurant offer the most wanted foods that are the most well-known worldwide, and also have some seasonal extra possibilities. The countries whose food we would like to offer are Italy, France, Turkey, Japan, China, Spain, USA and Greece. These countries’ foods are going to be on the menu at all times. For the smaller Countries foods, that are not as well-known as the above mentioned, we want to organize some theme weeks when there will be an extra menu from a specific country’s specialties. It can be Hungary with the famous Gulash and Pörkölt, Austria with Wienersnitzel and Kaiserschmarrn or Israeli food with Hummus, Falafel or Shaksuka.

  1. Location and Size

The Restaurant would have the capacity to serve 50 people in one time. It would be a middle sized restaurant, around 200 quadrat meters. As it would be a fine dining place, it would look like an International restaurant, everything is nice and clean with sophisticated decoration. The main color would be white and beige. The location would be central in the inner city, For example near to Kärtnerstrasse or Mariahilferstrasse as most of the tourists are going to this areas and one of our target market would be the tourists, as sometimes they are not open for the given country’s food supply and they want to eat their own.

  1. Staff and Chefs

Our staff would be also multicultural. The waiting staff should be a mix from the main countries and they should speak their own language, German, as it is the national language of Austria, and a little bit of English. There would be 4 fixed chefs, and all of them should know how to make two countries’ foods in a very professional way and the other ones also in an excellent level. There would be an understudy chef in the thematic weeks who can prepare the given theme food. There would be insight training every summer for the chefs, when they travel for 10 days to different countries, each of them at least to two countries to improve and get the knowledge of local people the preparation of the different courses.

  1. Additional Possibilities

Organizing events and offering additional possibilities are also very important to be competitive in the market, generate new costumer, satisfy the current ones and also to have extra income. That’s why we would organize a cooking school every month. It would be a thematic class with our chefs in group of 8-10 people in the kitchen of the restaurant in every Monday in a week. Participants would prepare in pairs an amuse bouche, an appetizer, a main course and a dessert. They would get an overview about the ingredients needed, where to found them and about the drinks, what kind of drink fits with the given course.

We would also like to organize every second Sunday a Sunday Brunch. It would be an open buffet, where people can eat as much as they want at a fixed price. For extra charge they would get wine and beer for the food. The Buffet would be separated in 6 +1 parts, 6 of the main countries food we offer and always one extra from the theme of the week. It would take place from 12:00 o’clock till 15:00 pm and after that we would get back to the A La Carte.

In every Saturday we would like to organize a live music night, when a local band would come to make a show from 20:00 pm till 23:30 pm. There would be always different kind of music, such as Jazz, Latin, Soul, Pop… etc. For those concerts, people would have to indicate their attendance earlier and pre-buy their ticket that would cost around 10 Euros.
