Castle's Family Restaurant Business Plan: Stage II

INTRODUCTION

Castle's Family Restaurant is a medium sized business of approximately 300-340 employees with eight restaurants in the Northern California that is currently facing issues related to HR administration. Mr. Jay Morgan, the HR manager has to travel weekly to each restaurant location in order to take care of scheduling, recruiting, hiring, and answering employees' questions. His biggest issue, however, is related to payroll administration, since Mr. Morgan is currently using an Excel spreadsheet with a computer application to print payroll checks manually instead of using automated HRIS software to assist on payroll activities to all employees. Due to traffic and administrative paper work, Castle's Family Restaurant business environment has become quiet challenging for Mr. Morgan and the need for a competent and effective HRIS system is the answer.

HRIS TYPE

Organizations are required to make their human resource management more competent and effective. For this purpose, there are a number of different applications related with human resource management within the organization. In this context, the HRIS system employed by the organization will be Employee Self-Service System (ESS) (Doran, 2001). The Employee Self Service System is the Internet Based application of HIRS, which allows the employees to update their information in the existing database of the organization. With the help of these types of applications, employees can stay connected with the management of the organization through an automated information channel. This system also allows the employees to update their emergency as well as personal information, such as, contact number, address and so on, when it is necessary (Doran, 2001). This will help Mr. Morgan by eliminating the weekly commute.

There are many different types of HIRS applications available to the Castle's Family Restaurant. These types of HIRS application are quite powerful and beneficial for the organization to manage its work force in the most effective manner. In this context, the system provides a number of different advantages, like benefits of open enrollment. From the perspective of the organization, both employees and HR departments of the organization welcome the ESS types of HIRS applications. Employees favor this application, as this provides them charge of their own personal data while HR department support the system. The system reduces their workload related with the input of the data (HRIS Applications- Employee Self Service, 2012).

Furthermore, accuracy and privacy of the personal information of employees are also some of the intensive features of such types of HRIS applications. Such types of application are aimed to make the human resource management of the organization more responsive and informative. Owing to such reasons, the organizations should install employee self-service applications
