CONSTRUCTION METHODOLOGY

1.0 INTRODUCTION

 

Construction procedures and methods to be used in this project shall be executed according to Philippine Standards. The works shall be executed in close coordination with all trades. Should there be an occasion where deviations from industry standards are necessary, said deviation will have to be presented for evaluation and approval.

 

2.0 METHODOLOGY OF EXECUTION OF WORK

2.1 BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

 

The project involves design, construct, provision of labour, materials, consumables, supervision including proposed and as-built preparation for the above project.

Name of Project: Two-Storey Residential House

Nature of Building: Residential Building

 

2.2 CONSTRUCTION PROCEDURES / METHODS

 

All Parts of the construction shall faithfully follow and conform to the approved plan, details and specifications submitted, and are to the entire satisfaction of both parties (this company, and the owner).

 

Standard Safety and Quality Control Procedure shall be executed from the mobilization thru the end of the construction.

 

 

  2.3 METHODOLOGY AND GENERAL APPROACH

 

The first step to be done is to have a good coordination with client’s management regarding the access to the site working area, routes of deliveries, and all necessary permits for the comprehensive implementation of the project.   After completion of the preliminary steps, a complete and comprehensive detailed drawings shall be prepared and be submitted to client Project Managers for their review and immediate approval to ensure the correctness of the locations, materials and equipment to be installed and used. Furthermore, we will submit a complete schedule of works for both parties for proper monitoring of the project.

 

The project shall be done in four (4) major activities:

  1. Civil Works
  2. Mechanical Works
  3. Electrical Works, Instrumentation and Process Control
  4. Testing and Commissioning with Training and Orientation  

 

Site clearing and putting up of board ups, bollards and appropriate signage as needed will be executed before starting. Temporary facilities will be constructed on the project site in the area to be designated by the owner. These facilities shall consist of a field office to ensure effective management of this project, a warehouse where we can store our tools and materials needed in the project, and an area where we can do some of our fabrication activities for timely completion of the project. Thereafter, the mobilizations and procurements of local and imported materials will be started. Simultaneously, civil works will be done by doing the lay-outing, coring, chipping, restoration, and all related civil works. Mechanical works will be started by doing the fabrications supports. Upon the arrival of the equipment and machines, installations will be done accordingly as per program schedule. During the installation, an extra care and handling shall be practiced to ensure that the equipment and machines are properly installed, and no damage shall be experienced.

 

The project shall have a designated Safety Officer to ensure safe working condition at all times.  

 

 

2.4 CONSTRUCTION METHODOLOGY / SPECIFICATION

 

This governs the method of construction and the kinds of materials to be used for the project as shown in the plans, details and specifications.

 

The plans, detailed drawing and specification, shall be covered as completing each other, so that what is mentioned in one, although not mentioned to the other, shall be considered as appearing in both. In case of construction conflict, it should be referred to designing Architect/Engineer for resolution.

 

2.4.1 CIVIL WORKS

 

I. SITE CLEARING

 

Site preparation shall be accomplished before any activity shall be done. All utilities or any other obstruction in the construction area shall be dismantled, demolished, or relocated in an approved location.  

 

II. EARTHWORKS

 

If the construction area is unpaved, we directly excavate using a backhoe until the desired depth according to plan is reached. Gravel shall be poured manually into the area after excavation with thickness indicated on plan.  

         

STEELWORKS AND FORMWORKS

 

Bent, laid, and tied according to structural requirements, all steelworks shall be executed by skilled steelman that will follow all bar details in structural drawings.  

 

Formworks shall be phenolic form plywood to ensure smooth finish during concrete pouring. These formworks shall be assembled manually by carpenters.  

 

         CONCRETE WORKS AND MASONRY  

Concrete Mix shall be ordered and delivered on site. This ready mix concrete shall be poured simultaneously per section using a Pump Crete. For even distribution, we shall use concrete vibrator immediately after pouring.  

 

Masonry works such as laying of concrete hollow blocks and plastering shall be executed by skilled masons.  

 

BACKFILLING

 

While waiting for the concrete curing period for the final lift, backfill and compaction shall be accomplished. Plate compactor shall be used to make sure that the backfilled soil firm, stable, and well compacted.

 

PAINTING WORKS

 

Pipes, equipments, supports, structures, and all other accessories that needed to be painted shall be coated by approved client type of paint. Painters shall manually use paint brush and rollers for this particular activity.

 

2.4.2 MECHANICAL WORKS

 

Preparation of materials, tools and equipment to be used must be procured ahead of time. Meanwhile all other activities which can be done shall be accomplished; in this case, pipe and equipment supports can be fabricated beforehand. Installation shall only take place when the delivery of materials, equipment and tools shall be completed to ensure fast setting up of all equipments.

INSTALLATION OF EQUIPMENTS

 

Upon delivery, proper handling and storage of the equipment shall be observed very carefully. If equipment arrived earlier than its installation date, it shall be stored in a warehouse. Equipment shall be factory assembled and ready to be installed upon delivery.
