Journal Article Summary on Sigmund Freud

Article one

Sigmund Freud birthed on the 6th day of May 1856 in London, and past on the 23rd day of September 1939. At a very young age Freud had a goal and or dream in life to become famous in the world of science. He was said to be the favorite of all the kids in his family, this could have been due to the fact that he was the only boy of many girls and was coddled by his Mother. His background and life experiences as a child shape some of his findings in his theories. Sigmund spent most of his time alone and reading books. As stated before, from a young age Freud was ambitious and anxious to learn, and apply his findings to science in a way to help people.

One of Sigmund Freud's greatest findings was his ability to analyze dreams, and relate them to people's emotions, traumas, wants, needs etc. "His name was first known after he published the book "Interpretation of Dreams". These interests in neurology gradually lead him to the understanding of the unconscious influences on our behavior in illness and health. Article 2

The unconscious has been around for a very long time, even before Freud. "But it was Freud who not only put "the unconscious" on the map but also operationalized it in a new way --- as a dynamic unconscious, laying down the foundation of a science of the unconscious." (Lothane, MD, 2006 Pg.285) This new science opened up such a foundation for not only Freud but for us too.

Freud's breakdown of the unconscious led him to one of his greatest achievements, the ability
