One of the career choices in health I would have might be as a massage therapist. As a massage therapist I would work mainly by appointments between 15 and 30 hours a week and could earn on average $11.36 to $25.14 an hour, according to the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics. In massage therapy you use touch, pressure, and massage to manipulate the soft-tissues of the body. You will relieve patient's stress/pain and promote good health. Before administering therapy you will conduct an informal interview to determine client's treatment. Depending on the needs of the client you will administer a massage type. I also found out that there are over 80 different massage types. Such types include Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, relaxation massage, sports massage, medical massage, and acupressure. Each massage type has its own techniques and forms. To become a massage therapist you must complete formal training and adhere to state regulations. The requirements for practicing massage therapists vary. Many massage therapists work part time or are self-employed. Jobs in massage therapy are expected to continue to grow. Another would have to be coaching someone how to stay healthy and in shape. Personal training is a job associated with a type of swagger; you have to fit with your trainee and understand them thoroughly. Many television actors, movie stars, professional athletes and even the president have personal trainers. These trainers make enough from one or two clients to live very comfortably. This is not the case with most personal trainers. A personal trainer must be knowledgeable in all areas of fitness including strength training, aerobic training, flexibility, exercise selection and training intensity and duration for various goals. Additional knowledge in specific sports skills and conditioning can help as well. Nutrition is yet another area that a personal trainer must have a good knowledge base. A trainer does not need to be an expert in any particular sport or in nutrition but must have a good understanding in basic concepts. A certification is usually required for a job in a club or gym and is also a good idea for an independent trainer. In conclusion, whatever I do I wanted it to bring me joy but more importantly make an impact on my community and the people I surround myself with. Everyone should have some kind of base to stop their fall and set them back up to be ready to try again if the first attempt was unsuccessful. In my eyes and in my heart I wanna be that base for people, and through one of these professions I know I can accomplish that task.
