History Case

The three topics in criminal justice that I find interesting are Racial-profiling, Prison Rehabilitation Programs and Domestic Violence. Racial-profiling is interesting I think because it is not only used by law enforcement agencies but by people as a whole. profiling of individuals based on race, ethnicity, or national origin of the individual is wrong. Also the use of racial-profiling can turn into racially-motivated violence. It use to be African Americans who were profiled the most now it's middle eastern decent. I find it funny how some people following the Trayvon Martin shooting said it was not a case of Racial-profiling.

Next, Rehabilitation Programs are interesting because they are design to help

people in prison change for the better and become good and productive citizens. The common types of Rehabilitation Programs are educational rehabilitation and

Religious prison rehabilitation programs. I like the religious prison rehabilitation the most because it involves teaching different religious beliefs to inmates. I think this will help the inmates to open their minds to help understand other people and even reflect on the wrongs they have done. I think that educational rehabilitation can only help a few. You can get your GED in prison but that doesn't do that much for them. In order for this to work is that they will need collage education and depending on the crime that was committed they won't be able to go to collage.

Also, I'm interested in Domestic Violence because I don't understand why people stay with a person who abused them. Most people say that they stay because of what they believe the person will do if they stay. If one does stay why not leave because either way you will be in harms way. What I really find interesting is the effects that Domestic Violence has on children. Some kids end up using Domestic Violence as a way to mediate their needs and wants by using violence. Some kids have behavioral disorders that result from the abuse , including child abuse and domestic violence, such as neglect, and poor disciplinary practices at home.
