Hewlett-Packard is a technology company which can be found in 170 countries around the world. But how did HP Company started? Everything began in 1939, when Will Hewlett and Dave Packard, founders, created HP. The two made an audio oscillator in Palo, Alto California. In Walt Disney's movie entitled Fantasia, they bought a product called Model 200B oscillator and it brought an impact for the company. The company's focus before was on test products.

In 1960's the company became the founder of Silicon Valley. They began producing semiconductors generally for internal use of instruments and calculators. HP had also tried to joined force with other companies like Sony in Japan for a much improved quality products. But then, their pursuit was not profitable considering the high cost. Meanwhile, the concept of specializing digital equipments like microcomputer began. This experiment was the basis for the creation of Intel x86 processor.

Creation of business computer server came in 1970's. Variety of models was created. In 1984, first laser printers and inkjet printers were created. These were for the desktops. In 1990's HP turned out to be more famous.

Nowadays, HP offers a wide range of products and services for consumers. It is now the largest technology company in the world. They continuously explore on technologies and services which can help people and companies which can address their problems.

Hewlett Packard's vision statement: "To view change in the market as an opportunity to grow; to use our profits and our ability to develop and produce innovative products, services and solutions that satisfy emerging customer needs."

Hewlett Packard's mission statement: "To provide products, services and solutions of the highest quality and deliver more value to our customers that earns their respect and loyalty."

HP Company provides their shared values and corporate objectives. The company's shared values are passion for customers, trust and respect for individuals, achievement and contribution, results through teamwork, speed and agility, meaningful innovation, and uncompromising integrity. Their corporate objectives are customer loyalty, profit, growth, market leadership, commitment to employees, leadership capability, and global citizenship. These shared values and corporate objectives show that their company is not just about earning money and benefiting themselves, but also for the sake of their customers, employees, and even the community.

As one of the big companies in the business world, HP faces different competitors most especially in the field of technology. HP has three direct competitors which are also into technology products and services. These companies are Accenture plc (ACN), Dell, and International Business Machines (IBM).
