Introduction

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an action to help improve the business and encourage ethics. The aim is to discover CSR roles and how Human Resource (HR) contributes to CSR in the company. The Humphrey Group is facing issues with financial compensation and roles of management in the company. Hence, HRM can help in solving the problems and incorporate CSR into the company. Their purpose is to suggest new solutions for the organization to maintain the competitiveness. HRM's contributions and roles toward Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), sustainability and ethnics are beneficial to the business industry. HR helps to build a strong connection between the workers and the management. Moreover, HR supports the firm by providing assistance to the organization and also influences the firm's decisions. HR contributes to CSR in numerous ways. The roles incorporate each other in helping the organization's management. The purpose of this report is to identify HR's role and functions, how HR can help CSR and CSR's importance and contributions to the organization.

HR's Role and Functions in the Organization

HR Development functions are particularly well positioned to engage with human rights and environmental organization (Garavan & McGuire, 2010, p 499-500) cited from (Redington, 2005). HR Development follows certain policies to avoid being blamed for prejudices. HR is present to observe the progress in the firm and to provide fairness to the society. It is important that HR gain trust from the society and maintaining their image in the organization. (Beatty & Ewing, 2003).

HR has been involved in the organization and has made an impact in the firm's success by providing fairness to the society and environment. HR Managements are the people who protect human rights like hiring and paying employees. They are in charge of benefits that are given to employees. HR can also help in integrating CSR to offer better quality management for the organization. With their roles, HR can help develop CSR and widen people's perspectives about CSR and practices it.

Benefits of CSR

CSR affects the society in a positive way. (Garavan & McGuire, 2010). Companies who practice CSR benefit them in providing better services and making better decisions. Also, CSR benefits the society in attracting more customers and investors. If a company is responsible and is able to contribute to the society in a positive way, they will gain more customers and also investors. Not only that, they are able to bring in more experienced and suitable employees for the organization.

CSR is a voluntary approach, going beyond compliance with laws and regulations. (Cohen, 2010, pg 15). The aim of CSR is to embrace and support the organization's actions to manage all ethics based on principle and values. CSR can have significant impact in motivating, developing and retaining staff. CS Performance provides a signal about working conditions in the organization by denoting certain organizational values and norms (Turban, 1996). Basically, CSR is present to guide the organization in following the regulations their operations. Companies engaging in CSR want to build up their image and increase their financial status.

Due to bonus scandals and compensations, companies are giving out money as bonuses to employees by being biased. Thus, they are abusing their power as managements. Compensations have been practiced frequently (Frey & Osterloh, 2005) cited from (Hall & Liebman, 1998). One of the benefits of CSR is that they implement responsibilities by law to the company who practices bonus scandals.

Contributions of HR in CSR

HR Development has a major role to play in helping organizations achieve CSR, sustainability and ethical goals (Garavan & McGuire, 2010, pg 489). With the contribution of HR, organizations will be able to acknowledge CSR which can help in increasing the financial performance of the business. HR set payments and rewards to the employees, therefore contributing that aspect to CSR. Also, HR provides training for the employees to strengthen their capabilities, making their employees more knowledgeable, thus helps in providing better quality life for employees.
