What’s Jim’s story…in HIS words?

I think Dan has betrayed me because before the expiry of the contract, we both were working on this deal which he closed for $10 million and did not share the profits with me. He deliberately kept me out of the loop and did not show any intentions to renew the contract because he knew that the deal was about to get closed and if they renew the contract, he would have to share the profits with me. So, he should give my share of profits to me.

What’s Dan story as HE would tell it?

I think the matter is pretty clear and straightforward. I and Jim had a contract for an year to sell the mine. But we were not able to close any deals within that time period. However, after the expiry of the contract, I closed the deal and now when Jim got to know about this deal, he wants me to share the profits with him. His demands are baseless.

How would Jim describe his intent?

My intents were pretty clear. I did not want to betray Dan. I just intent to receive my share of profits that’s it.

How would he explain his actual impact?

Dan should share with me the $500,000 fee which he collected. I should receive $250,000 from him.

How would Dan describe his intent?

I never intended to cheat Jim. Since, there was no intent from Jim to renew the contract, I went ahead with the deal and closed it.

How would he describe his actual impact?

Jim is getting confused about the matter and because of his confusion, I would have to go through this mentally draining process of law suit.

How can Jim acknowledge contributing to the problem?

Indeed, I can acknowledge that the contract was not renewed and the deal was closed after the expiry of our contract. Perhaps, after the expiry of the contract, I should have clearly specified him that if in future a deal that we were working on earlier gets closed then both of us would be sharing the profits equally.

How might Dan say he contributed to the problem?

Perhaps, I should have explicitly asked him whether he wants to renew the contract for another year. I could have told him about the ongoing deal with an overseas buyer.

What would Jim say his feelings are?

I feel really betrayed and hurt by Dan’s actions. I used to trust him but now he has lost all my trust in him.

How would Dan say he feels?

I feel really shocked and surprised my Jim’s attitude and demands. I feel a bit confused as to what should I do. But, at the same time, I also feel that Jim is overreacting and I don’t think he deserves what he is asking for.

How does this threaten Jim’s identity?

I think I am a pretty rational person and my demands seem to be very rational. I don’t want people to feel that I am a greedy person and wants to get profits out of Dan’s hard work.

How might this threaten Dan’s identity?

This entire situation makes me feel very unfortunate that I was a part of all of this. I do not wish to hurt and cheat anyone. Perhaps, from outside people might think I am a greedy and a bad person. But my intentions were not to cheat him.
