Party Plates Information System Proposal
The recent growth of Party Plates Incorporated ® has allowed our company to be assigned a new contract for the upcoming 2012 Presidential Inauguration dinner. This company will design and have responsibility for providing place setting for one of the premier events in the United States. As a result we will improve on the efficiency of our current information systems to better provide customer service and sales department efficiency. While Microsoft® Excel® has served this company well in the past; Party Plates Inc. will immediately begin migration to Microsoft® Access®.
Benefits of Microsoft® Access®
Switching from Microsoft® Excel to Microsoft® Access® provide many benefits that are useful to our company. The first and most important is the ease of use. Microsoft® Access® provides many templates that can be tailored to the company's needs. These templates will allow coordination of the sales department and our many vendors (Donato, n.d.). Employees can manipulate data to meet the company's needs, provide collaboration through the Internet, and will have the ability to create reports using that data (Donato, n.d.).Managers and employees will have access to all available templates and will have all information attained available for current and future company projects. One of the more important features of using Microsoft® Access® is that it can be integrated into other Microsoft® programs and software should the company decide to further expand to other products (Donato, n.d.). Implementation of Microsoft® Access® will upgrade our current Microsoft® Excel® system. The current system is less efficient and has limited reporting and searching capabilities. Moving to Microsoft® Access® will allow key employees of the company to input and maintain vendor and supplier contact information which will provide for the operations and sales departmentsto increased their efficiency and ability to work together(Donato, n.d.).
Future Collaborative Software
While Party Plates is currently using Microsoft® office products to track personnel data for employees, although Microsoft Access® could perform this task easier, Party Plates could benefit greatly from the implementation of a new software program in the future to help with the company's latest project.
