There are 4 roles in advertising which include marketing role, economic role, communication role, and societal role. For the marketing role advertising plays a big role in marketing the products, service, and the company itself. The communication role is important because no 1 product or service can move without proper information. You want to make sure the information you are giving is correct because this is how it is going to be sent to the target market. The communication role is going to introduces new products and will have the ability to reach mass audiences. Advertising plays a part in the price elasticity of products and services for the economic role. Lastly the societal role is going to show the trend in the society and how the trends are going to change. Societal role will also teach the consumers about any new products. Each role is important because they all work together to make a product or service sell or work.

I would have to say the marketing role and the economic role are equally important. “Marketing is a business process that aims to satisfy the consumer needs and wants through goods and services. And to do so, advertising lets the message out to take that big role in marketing to promote the goods and services.” (Belen, 2017) The economic role is going to show you the value of the products which will make you want to buy the product and in return will increase the sales for the company. The economic role is also going to show the effect on prices. When you have more competition, you will need to come down on prices to stay competitive and can make a profit. The economic role will also increase the business cycle by employing more people. If a product is not marketed the correct way, the consumer may not know exactly what the product is and they will not purchase it. The economic role is going to create the demand from the consumer. The value in the economic role will go to both the consumer and the advertiser. The value in the societal role is going to be the consumer and the marketer.

A new service or product will need to be advertised so the consumers will know about it. There are times when you are at home, see an advertisement on the television, that gives a great description about the product, how it works, where it can be purchased, you leave to go get that product. If you had never seen the advertisement on the television you wouldn’t have been able to go and buy it. You have benefited from the product and so has the maker of the product.
