The company Colney and Pitts will benefit many people with their medicine. The environment and the Kikuyu tribe will face irreversible repercussions. Precautionary measures have been studied and are being put in place however; when the project moves forward the area will never be the same. The stakeholders in this situation are Colney and Pitts, Kikuyu tribe, International Center for Ethno Botanical Research and Eco Smile. When looking at the environmental justice one must weigh the pros and cons and who has the most to gain or lose. Each one of these entities has an impact on each other.

Colney and Pitts

Colney and Pitts will face challenges as they make deals with the African government. As they enter this new territory Colney and Pitts expect to make a bundle of money on one hand but they should be ready to pay a very large amount of taxes as well. Even though the African government is willing to allow Colney and Pitts to come in and try, there may be other factors that could cost them larger amounts of money from their initial investment of nearly a quarter of a million dollars. Training should also be thought about with the cost and difficulty of training an unsophisticated people. To train the employees would be very costly and would take years, and there would be no guarantee the Kikuyu tribe will get enough of the knowledge from the training and abandon them. Colney and Pitts would then have to find new people and the training process would have to begin again. The company will have to develop the land enough to build and grow more trees. Colney and Pitts idea of planting and harvesting trees may save lives around the world but the same the trees will cause an entire culture to end in one way or another. The Kikuyu tribe has lived in these mountains for many generations this is a known fact. They did not expect anyone to intrude on them to and create a new culture for them. Not to mention the environmental rights activists.

Kikuyu Tribe

This tribe is natives to the Aberdares Mountain range. With the development of the land will challenge the lives of the Kikuyu tribe but it will also alter the culture as well. The company of Colney and Pitts made offers giving the tribe many options but not leaving things as they were. The Kikuyu tribe has discovered ways to use the trees that the company wants to profit from. The Kikuyu people use the trees for medicine and home building. The company has offered to train and give the Kikuyu people jobs but if the African government doesn't change the training and experience will not help the people in the future. Another situation to think about is the animals that the Kikuyu tribe hunt for food, due to the change in environment the wild life could run away or it would kill them.
