Two Methods of Losing Weight

People focus on diet when they are trying to lose weight.  They may even only focus on lifting weights or exercise.  Concerning weight loss, it is the calories that count.  With many new diets to choose from, what is truly the healthiest way to loose weight and keep it off, so that we may maintain a healthy weight and reduce the risks of many diseases.    Even though others think that there are other ways of losing weight, with the combination of lowering calories and exercise, one can lose weight effectively.

A diet should be safe, not risk your overall health.  One can do this by eating a low calorie diet.  The reason for doing this is to reduce calories and not add more that is already being stored for energy.  If a person can take in more calories than they may burn off for energy, then they could end up storing those extra calories in one form or another.  A person can store calories as fat or as muscle.  When calories are stored as fat, then calories will become fat essentially.  So for anyone who has lost fat, this is how it is done, by lowering your calorie intake; by this we are consuming fewer calories, so that our bodies can use the stored body fat for energy, this is how we  lose weight.

Paying attention to what one may eat is the first steps in lowering those calories.  Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, oatmeal, whole wheat bread, and brown rice are what we should be eating more of.  Other things that one can eat are seafood, lean meats, poultry, eggs, and fat free or low fat milk and cheese.  The foods that people need to eat less of are sugar sweetened drinks and desserts, foods with butter, shortening or other fats, white bread, rice, and pasta.  Eating smaller portions will also help in keeping their weight maintained.

Keeping a food diary can help a person stay on track, kind of the same concept as a day timer.  By making a shopping list before going to the store and going not when hungry, will help from buying those things that we should not be eating.  Another good tip is to seek support from family or friends.  Whether you are at work, home, or on the go, take a lite snack with you.  This will help through those hunger strikes and stop one from over eating as well.

This is not a fast way to loose weight but a healthy one, which does not put a strain on the body.  Expect to only loose a pound to a pound and a half a week after the first two weeks.  In the first two weeks one will loose mostly water weight.  Although one can not change the overall factors in one’s life that can lead to being over weight, one can certainly make the change of their eating habits that can change their overall health.  This will not hurt you, it can only help you.

Another way to lose weight is by exercise or adding a daily activity to your schedule.  Being active is essential in a weight-loss program.  When you are active then you are using energy.  Any type of activity can be used to burn energy.  Things like cleaning the house, shopping, yard work, gardening, walking, jogging; playing with your children outside or inside can help you burn calories.  Exercise is another form of activity that is performed and is a more structured form of physical activity.  Start of with small specific goals, like walking briskly, bicycling, and swimming, or lifting weights for 10 or 15 minutes, 3 or 4 days a week.  One does not have to be an athlete to benefit from regular physical activity.  Build up your endurance slowly.  Start off with something easier if you have not been active for awhile.  This will help reduce the risk of hurting yourself, and allow endurance to build up.  As you become more fit and feel that you can add more to your physical activity then do so, but remember to increase a little at a time, do not over do it.  This is how injures can happen.
