Abortion is defined as: "the termination of pregnancy and expulsion of an embryo or of a fetus that is incapable of survival."Then again if only the debate over the abortion issue was as simple as the definition provided above. . Much like every aspect of human life, a statement neither right nor wrong, but simply left open for interpretation. In class we heard a story from professor Alfrone about how he used to go clubbing in NYC and park his car in front of a fire hydrant but he carried a box big enough to cover the fire hydrant he got away with it a couple of times but eventually got caught by a cop and got a ticket. What does this have to do with abortion? Well I'll tell you this is related to abortion because just as he chose to park his car in front of the no parking zone the fire hydrant, so was the woman's choice to have sex and using protection doesn't really work because accidents happen. When the cop caught professor Alfrone and gave him the ticket he can't say that he doesn't want to pay it because he made the choice to park the no parking zone before he got the ticket and now he must pay the consequences. The consequences of having sex is a baby A lot of women go to the abortion clinic because they feel like they are not ready to have children, or don't want to be single parents but if they were not ready to have children why engage in the acts that will bring children into the picture. The time to choose if they are ready to have a baby or not should come before getting pregnant not after.

Another story professor Alfrone told us was about a panda that was carrying "the last panda on earth" people came from all over to see the panda; they treated the panda like it was pregnant with the last baby panda on earth so if someone was to come and kick the panda in the stomach and cost it to lose that baby panda that person will be in big trouble because they killed the last panda on earth. This is related to abortion in the fact that the way the mother panda was being treated is better than a person, who is pregnant with a human person. They have all kinds of names for the baby just so it can be easier to get rid of it they fail to acknowledge it for what it actually is human life. If a doctor killed a child one minute after it was born it would be murder, but if a doctor killed a child one minute before the child was born it would be the mother's choice. 52% of abortions occur before the 9th week of pregnancy, 25% happen between the 9th & 10th week, 12% happen between the 11th and 12th week, 6% happen between the 13th & 15th week, 4% happen between the 16th & 20th week, and 1% of all abortions happen after the 20th week of pregnancy (The Alan Guttmacher Institute.).
