By 2050, Hong Kong will become a dystopian hell.

Just now, Kary has expressed her arguments towards the view of Hong Kong will become a utopia paradise in 2050. However, I have a different standpoint with Kary. I think that Hong Kong will become a dystopian hell in 2050.

In the following speech, I am going to present my points of view from the perspectives of political affairs, social issues and also science and technology industry.

First of all, the political problems separate citizen’s solidarity and harmony, people in Hong Kong would come to an inevitable split-up. In these few years, Hong Kong occurs several issues, such as, moral and national education, rejection of license application of HKTV. Let’s take the example of the issue that has extensive reports by mass media recently, “occupy central”. After happening the incident, how do you feel about the government? Or even the Hong Kong Society? One of the traits for us to observe the separation of HK society is the preference of blue or yellow-colored ribbons. Actually, having different opinions or ideas are very common. But, “occupy central” gives rise to division of Hong Kong. For instances, the act of “un-friending” on Facebook, verbal arguments, or even physical violence. It is clear and obvious for us to see that even the physical barriers on the street are removed; Hong Kong society has to confront the reality that divisions will still remain. One-sided people will keep on pursuing greater freedom; the other-sided people will tend to support the China government. So, Hong Kong ‘s cohesiveness is decreasing gradually. By the time of 2050, Hong Kong citizens might not be willing to know, to love, to share anymore, therefore Hong Kong would not be a harmonious community but uncaring individuals.

Moreover, according to surveys from Public Opinion Programme, The University of Hong Kong, it reveals that the appraisal of degree of stability, democracy, prosperity has decreased from 7.33 in 1997 to 6.8 in 2014, 6.7 in 1997 to 5.93 in 2014 and also 8.05 in 1997 to 6.87 in 2014 respectively. So, it shows that Hong Kong degenerates in 18 years, and will continue the trend to 2050. As a result, I think that Hong Kong would become a dystopian hell in 2050.

Second, the social issues also affects citizen’s quality of life. In such a small city with so many infrastructure, there is severe problem of scarcity of land, however, the population density is still very high. How can we live in tiny and limited apartment or house? Without doubt, I’m sure that all of you may hear the term, subdivided units. They are a ubiquitous kind of rental housing present in Hong Kong; one flat will be divided in to two or three rooms. As we all know, home is a private place for us to relax and relieve. However, living in a shared room, we are difficult to remove their masks, so, Hong Kong People cannot
