Appreciation of the Baroque Art

During the development of the Europe during the 17th century, the Baroque work comprised of elaborate works of art, and it was not limited to two-dimension form solely. The period, spanning from 1580- 1750, was marked by formulation of styles. The Baroque work starts during the most influential era in the history of Europe. Most of the works during the era were influenced by the change in the religious thinking and changes in the attitude of the politics. They were rich in contradictions and contrast. This was the era on such leaders as Elizabeth I, Louis XVI and Newton. This period was also called the Renaissance Age. During this era, art was common in high aristocracy and society. Painting was the most famous of all forms of arts. The three artists from the Baroque period chosen for the purpose of this paper are Nicolas Poussin, Pierre Puget and, Peter Paul Rubens. They are all painters of the Baroque era (Harris, 2005).

Nicholas Poussin has his origin in France. He was born in 1594 in Normandy, France. His works of painting emerged in France as an archetypal style painter. He moved to Italy between the year 1628 and 1629. In Italy, he developed the Baroque art style and came up with "Virgin of the Pillar" that was meant for a church in Spain. During this era, the church was almost the center of the interest of most artists. His personal philosophy was based on his strong ideological values towards arts. He valued drawing as vital and pertinent intellectual epicenter of painting, which was a principle to academic.

Like Nicholas, Pierre Puget has his origin in France. He was born in a town called Marseille in 1620. He was well known for his works as a painter, engineer and, a sculptor. During his times, the Catholic Church had a great influence on the works of arts that the artist produced during the period. Most of the paintings depict figures in the Christian religious belief. The picture that depicted Jesus, the Virgin Mary, and saints were the most. An example is the painting by Nicholas, "Virgin of the Pillar". The painting by Pierre also depicts the Virgin Mary.

Peter Paul Reuben was born in 1577. The works of Paul Rubens include "The Apotheosis of Henry IV". Rubens completed the painting in the year 1610. Currently, the work of art is in the Louvre in Paris, France on display. The painting, influenced by the church of the era, emulates the Baroque style of art. Same as the influence from the church, and especially the Catholic Church, the other paintings had, this painting displays the belief of the church.

Peter Paul Reuben demonstrates the Baroque style in portrait, as did another artist from that period that shined in the art of carving. He very prolific worker, and according to the writing, he was the preferences of very influential rulers. In additional to his artistic works, Paul use age of themes that relates to religion was his sound tool. In fact, his paintings were very much influenced by the religion. His works were made achievable because of his masterful implication of elements and principles of arts. Using this tool, he triumphs in the Baroque era of arts. His other painting that depicts the influence of the church on arts in the "Apotheosis on Henry IV". The paintings together with the "Proclamation of the Regency of Marie de Medicis" were done on 1610.
