The improvements in technology and the way it can disseminate and collect information is a major advantage and perhaps a slight disadvantage for businesses. The internet allows businesses to connect to other resources that may be many miles or countries away. It also allows them to connect to potential customers that may or may not know about that business and the services they provide. The Internet and related technologies give companies radical new ways to harvest the talents of innovators working outside corporate boundaries. (Manyika & Sprague, 2007) PDA's or Person Digital Assistants are also a growing technology trend that numerous businesses use. It allows almost instant communication from user to user. It also can be used as a portable media player which allows the user to broadcast streaming video and audio wherever and whenever they want. The advancements in technology allow a company to save money and time. It can also hinder or stop progress in many businesses. Workers in a business have access to so much information now that they may get overwhelmed with information or they many spend too much time using it. Privacy is also a major concern with business and technology. Being able to monitor, review, store, and protect information can be very expensive for many businesses.
