Communication and Collaboration Strategy

There are many different personality types and learning styles that influence communication

within a group setting. Those individuals have various beliefs, ideals, and opinions that

contribute to the overall discussions within your group or team. The Multiple Pathways to

learning assessment brought about and highlighted several personality traits that are within

myself, and members in a group setting.

The Multiple Pathways to Learning assessment paired in conjunction with Howard

Gardner's theory of intelligences showed in detail eight different types of intelligence.

Out of the eight referenced, three stood out in close proximity in a group setting.

Interpersonal, Verbal Linguistic, and Intrapersonal. Each of the three is distinct with expression

and communication. Interpersonal is one's ability to relate to others. Verbal Linguistic is ones

ability to communicate through speaking. Intrapersonal is one's ability to understand one's own

behavior. When working in a group or team like setting you need to possess

interpersonal skills that will enable you to relate to members of your team

and communicate effectively. A strategy for communication with interpersonal would be to

chose your words wisely to build and establish a rapport with members of your team. Relate to

the team by acknowledging team members viewpoints and show cooperation even when

indifference appears. With verbal linguistic, always speak your intentions and views in a clear

concise manner. Recite or teach what exactly you want your team members to know and apply.

Intrapersonal is like interpersonal except that you can use your words to paint pictures to

visualize your thoughts or ideas.
