Court Appointed Special Advocates

Introduction

The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program needs a better website to communicate with the community. Our goals of the website include: improving communication between volunteer members of the program, adjusting the entire layout of the website, make it possible to store documents needed by all volunteers in a "cloud" program, and to incorporate a donation goal within the community. At the moment, the website design is not cohesive with CASA and child abuse research. Our goal is to provide appropriate placement that will help draw an eye to important features.

Purpose and Background

A website is the view of the world to a community. It is the way that people will reach and find information about what a company does. CASA currently has a web site, but it does not really effetely reach or engage the community. We feel that making the website more user friendly will impact the ability of the CASA organization to more effectively coordinate with CASA volunteers and staff.

Description of Agency

The CASA program consists of volunteers that provide a voice for child abuse victims. These children suffer from abuse, neglect, or other physical mistreatment from their parents. Children involved with this are scared and overwhelmed, and a Court Appointed Special Advocate is there to support the child through the process of foster care and court. Once in the system, CASA volunteers work with both the courts and families to try and reunite the entire family.

Description of Product

An updated website and sharing program will allow all of the employees and volunteers at CASA to communicate better. Volunteers will be able to access important information, and the community will be able to get involved by donating directly on the website or by going to special events that are advertised on the website.

Rationale for Product

In these modern times, the internet is the most widely used form of media. By improving the website of the company, we are giving more accurate, up-to-date information to those wishing to learn about CASA. We are also making the website more useful for current volunteers by adding links to important data and information about upcoming deadlines and events. Finally, by improving the look of CASA's website, we are improving the look of the organization and the overall impact the organization can make on the lives of young children in the community.
