Drag Show Held Is the Smith Student Center During Rock out Week

On October 21st I attended the drag show held is the Smith Student Center during rock out week. The drag show was very entertaining and not only were there drag queens giving everyone entertainment, the queens also offered insight about the details of what it takes to be a queen. A variety of other questions were answered by the queens, but the one I found most interesting was who or what inspired each individual queen to get into the drag business.

The queens each performed one by one to some of their favorite songs wearing their favorite outfits. Not only did they lip sing, but they all showed off their best dancing skills hoping for a few tips from the audience. This was one of the most entertaining and surprising event I’ve ever seen. When I saw the queens who are really men dressed as women doing backflips and back handsprings into splits I was very surprised at how talented they were.

After they performed they each came out and answered questions. One of the questions that I found to be interesting was who inspired them to be get into drag. Some of the queens said that drag shows on television inspired them, or going to a real life drag show and thinking this is my calling, and one of the queens said family. The queen said that he would practice cheers with his girl cousins when he was young, play dress up and learn dances. One day his cousin took the queen to a drag show and insisted he should do it and ever since he’s been in drag shows across the county.

In conclusion, the drag show held during rock out week was very entertaining, full of surprises, and insightful. The queens told us a variety of details about what it takes to be a drag queen, answered many questions the audience had and performed very entertaining numbers for us. The queens also told us what and or who inspired them to get into the drag business and I found this to be the most interesting question they answered.
