Email. One type of business communication is email. Small business owners can use email programs like Outlook to send and receive meeting agenda, or even important documents. Documents can be easily attached to an email because all functions in Outlook are menu-driven. Business owners can also use the calendar function to keep track of appointments and daily tasks. Just clicking "View" within the calendar will display the complete schedule. It is also a cinch to make appointments two or three months in advance with the Outlook calendar.

Meetings, Another important form of communication is the face-to-face meeting. All companies hold them to discuss new products and services, develop marketing strategies or update employees. Meetings can be company-wide, departmental or even between an employee and an outside vendor. One individual, a point person, usually initiates the meeting. To be effective, all meetings should have a specific objective and agenda. The point person should always distribute an agenda in advance so attendees can get properly prepared.
