I was twenty six and I bought my very first car. It was a Ford Probe and I was living in West

Plains Missouri. I had a boyfriend that lived in Nevada Missouri. I was missing him so much and

plus I wasted to show him my first car. I should have never taken a trip with being a new driver.

This is the time that I have driven stupid.

I took off from West Plains Missouri after I got off work at Sonic Drive In. It was a nice day; the

temperature was in the mid-sixties. I was on my way to visit my boyfriend in Nevada Missouri

for the day. I made it up there with no problems, but on my way home was another story.

It was getting late and I did not like to drive at night so I decided to leave for home. On my way

it had started to rain and I could hardly see the road in front of me, right then I should have

pulled over but I did not. I had to work in the morning so I pressed on.

I was looking at the map and seen that this one road was a shorter way, so I have decided to take

that road. It turned out to be a very winding road, with curves and hills. I should have turned

around right then, but I was just thinking on getting home. I had my cell phone with me, and my

mom called me at that exact moment when I was going over a hill.

When the phone rang I jumped and turned the wheel, thankfully there was no cars coming the

other way. I slammed on the brakes to stop, but with the rain I started to slip on the asphalt. I

turned the wheel left and right trying to gain control of the car. The car skidded across the road

into a field, and I stopped just inches from hitting a tree.

I calmed myself down long enough to answer the phone and tell my mom that I will call her

back. I opened the car door and seen that the only thing that was wrong with the car was that I

had popped the back right tire. I was so lucky that day, I can just imagine what might of

happened if I had hit that tree. After that I have never taken a road trip with only being a new
