Second Language

Learning a second language is probably the one of the most exciting and definitely best choice a person could ever make. There is so many benefits that you can get from knowing another language especially if your in the military. Like getting paid more, resulting in a higher income. Knowing that you are needed and doing something great for your country. And the chance to meet new people from different parts of the world. Being in the military and knowing another language is a big asset to your country and to yourself. These are only three out of probably more then a thousand reasons why knowing another language is an absolutely a positive thing to have in the military.

Whatever your current job may be in the military, you will always get a bonus in your pay check if you pass a test on that other language you speak. The amount of money you get will be determined by which branch you will join. Now how much bonus? For the marines its about two hundred and fifty dollars extra. What does that mean? For every pay check you get they will add an extra two hundred and fifty dollars. I don't know about you but I definitely love to get extra money. Now lets say you don't pass the test, it doesn't matter because you can always take the test whenever you feel ready. With much more money you will be able to go on trips with your family maybe even take them on a vacation or two.

Money is one thing but the most important thing at least to me is the feeling that your doing something great for your country. You get a sense that you matter and the government really needs someone like you only because you know another language. In the field of combat it is very necessary that you understand what your enemy is planning. Like if for some reason America were to go to war against Mexico (god forbid by the way) and it so happens that you are a captain in the military. Not only do you have your life to worry about but you also have to worry about your comrades. Your brothers who are willing to die for you and for their country. If you know how to speak Spanish you will have a big advantage that is very crucial in field of war. You can understand the enemy and read their plans before they can hurt anyone of y'all.

Its really hard to make a friend if you don't even know how to speak their language. Trust me I know. When I first came to America I myself did not know how to speak English but after a lot of learning I finally was able to make tons of friends. Its not easy I understand but the pay off is amazing. I am talking about learning a new culture and experiencing a whole new world that you would have never imagined. The best part of knowing another language is the shock on the faces of the native speakers when you start to talk to them. That is priceless.
