The effects of Tropical Deforestation

The most serious consequence of tropical deforestation is climate change. First of all, tropical deforestation disrupt the processing of controlling the climate. That is, the rainfall and temperature are disrupted if the rainforests disappear. In fact, deforestation affects wind flows, water vapor flows and absorption of solar energy thus clearly influencing local and global climate. As a result, Deforestation disrupt normal weather patterns creating hotter and drier weather thus increasing drought and desertification, crop failures, melting of polar ice caps, coastal flooding and displacement of major vegetation regimes. During evapotranspiration, a large amounts of rain water transform into clouds which are carried by wind to different parts of the earth to help these place balancing their own temperature. If the forest disappear, rainfall pattern and evapotranspiration will be disrupt, causing altered weather on over the world (Greenhall, 2008). Clearly, deforestation impacts on rainfall pattern and evapotranspiration lead to temperature’s disruption which result in climate change.  Beyond climate change, Deforestation contributes significantly to greenhouse effect, which are the main cause of climate change. Forests cover one third of the land area on our planet. They are not only producing vital oxygen for people and wildlife but also removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. In other words, the more trees, the less carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and the more oxygen which is indispensable for human survival will be provided. Nowadays, with the economic development, human activities produce large amounts of greenhouse gases by polluted and deforestation. If the forest disappear, this is growing the greenhouse effects lead to global warming because less trees to absorb carbon dioxide at the atmosphere and these tree also release more this toxic gas which is still stored in themselves. As the estimation of Dr. Pete Canedell, director of the Global Carbon Project, an extremely huge amount of Carbon will be released every year by the year 2100 if human cannot limit deforestation (Greenhall, 2008). It is clear that, if people cannot control deforestation, the large amount of carbon will be released into the atmosphere lead to increasing the greenhouse effect. That is the main reason of global warming, causing climate change. Inclusion, climate change the most serious result which affects significantly to human survival on the earth.
