The King Cobra A Great Predator

The average size of a King Cobra 13.5 feet and it usually weighs 13 to 15 pounds. The king cobra comes from the elapid family. It's usually a brown or green shade. It has a forked tongue . The king cobra uses it's nose to hunt by testing the air. Its likes to live in dry sunny environment. The King Cobra is originally from Asia, where it lives in a nest of other snakes.

The king cobra is a carnivore. That means that it eats other animal. Some of the animal it will it are rats and even dead snakes. The cobra has fangs that have poisonous venom. It uses it's venom to paralyze it's prey. When the animal is paralyzed. The cobra then slowly eats it. It can take several hours for the snake to digest it's food.

When the king cobra reproduces it carries the babies for two months and lay between twenty to forty eggs. When the baby snakes are hatched, they stay with the mother for ten weeks. The average king cobra lives for about twenty years.

There are some myths about the king cobra. One myth says that the cobra is a proud animal that stays away from other animals. Another myth is that a king cobra will sneak in and steal a babies milk.
