What Were The Four Major Problems of The Articles of Confederation? How Did The Founders Address Them in The New Constitution?

The four major problems of the Articles of Confederation are:

1. No central government in authority.

2. A mass amount of debt.

3. The currency shortage.

4. No creation of the national army.

The founders addressed the problems of the Articles of Confederation in the new Constitution in 1787, when they passed a resolution endorsing a convention for the people and propose to resolve the Article of Confederation. There were 29 delegates that began to work on the problems on May 25, 1787. 73 men was elected to attend the convention however, only 55 attended at one time or another. After four months 39 signed the Constitution.

On certain fundamentals they generally agreed that government derived in just power from the content of its society, must be protected at tyranny of the majority and people at large must have a voice in their government, but check and balances must be provided to keep any one group from dominating any power. A strong central authority was essential, but all power was subject to abuse. They assumed with President Madison that if people were "angels" no government would be necessary, even the best of people are naturally selfish and therefore government could not be founded upon a trust and good will. Yet by carefully checking power the founding father hoped to devise an institution that could somehow constrain individual sinfulness and channel individuals self-interest on behalf goods.
