Becoming a father is an art as far as I am concerned. A father has certain skills but, they need constant refinement in order to make a lasting impression on your children. The joy of having a baby and being a father is priceless because you have this new take on life as a whole. Having a baby brings you lots of rewards and chances to pass your lessons learned or lessons that you were taught as a child to the next generation. Overall, my experience as a father has been like no other since I have this opportunity to educate and prepare someone for life, and in return I receive this bundle of joy that will teach me how to become a more compassionate and patient person. The real question is; have I done my best as a father in raising my child? Only time will tell.

When I found out I was going to be a father I cried because it was something that I will never forget in my life. It felt good hearing my name and father in the same sentence. When my wife and I found out that we were having a girl I immediately wanted to start shopping for clothes, toys, etc. As Kendra grew up, we were always making sure that our home was child proof, especially when Kendra started walking. Seeing Kendra go from crawling to walking and now running gave me a visual joy as if it was me when I was little.

The joy of becoming a father is a blessing that we could all use in life. When I come home after a stressful day at the office and see my baby, I automatically forget my problems and focus on Kendra for an hour of daddy baby time. Having Kendra definitely changed my priorities as a dad. I chose to reduce my partying ways, and hang out with my buddies in order to spend more quality time with my baby. As Kendra grows up I will need to guide her and teach her the fundamentals of life, in order for her to be prepared for the day when she "flies the nest."

I constantly continue to grow as a father and at the same time welcome the wonderful changes that come with the title of father. As a first time father, I could say that I will always cherish the first time I laid eyes on my daughter as my wife and I welcomed her into the world. Shopping and customizing the house for my daughter ensured that I created a safe environment for her and was even fun at the same time. I know she will grow up to become a successful women but she will always be "daddy's little girl." Kendra will always play a positive role in our married lives day in and day out. As a father, I will always place my daughter before any other activity because she will only grow up once. I will always strive to be the best father and enjoy every minute I can with my daughter for years to come.
