America

1) A- Details from the poem that depict love from this poem about America is shown in a few lines. Even though the person in the poem feels as though it is kind of hard to live in the country, it is clear that this country has made the speaker a stronger person then they could have ever imagine being. In line 6, the poem states "Giving me strength erect against her hate", in line 4, they also mention that they love the culture that you think they are, and he appreciates the tests that the country provides to his young people.

B- The person that the poem is for is clearly an African American, and the ambiguity towards this love in the first part of the question is clearly the disrespect that America has towards the African American people, how they really just label blacks as a waste, when blacks could really and truly bring a lot to the country.

2) The claim of America that the speaker implies is that America is not that much of a good place, but it has really made them a better person. America is not kind to their African American people, but he appreciates that for some reason. I agree with what the speaker implies though, because even today people are still racists against Blacks, and down grade their qualities as a person, but it does drive them to do better and be better. It makes them want to work hard to show America what African Americans are capable of.
