Euthanasia

Euthanasia, also known as physician-assisted suicide, is the act of ending a life to an individual from an incurable disease or intolerable suffering. Euthanasia is one the most public debates in society today. Currently, there are only three states where euthanasia is legal. Oregon, Washington, and Montana passed laws making euthanasia legal. Euthanasia should be made legal everywhere. If were to be made legal, there would be less people in this world who would have to suffer. Not to mention it should be an individual's right to decide whether they live or die.

Making euthanasia legal would make it easier for people to end their pain and suffering. There are millions of people in the world suffering from incurable diseases. These individuals normally live a life full of pain and take several different medications just to make life a little more tolerable. Not only does that individual suffer, but the family of the individual suffers as well. It's not easy to watch a loved one die a slow, painful death. Euthanasia also saves a lot the family of the individual a lot of money. All the medication, doctor, and hospital visits are not cheap when you are dying of a terminal illness. If euthanasia was legal, these individuals would have the right to end their suffering if they so desired.

Another reason why euthanasia should be made legal is because it should be an individual's right to chose death over suffering. It should not be the government's place to decide whether a person suffers a long, painful life of suffering if they decide to end it before it gets to that point. Euthanasia is on a voluntary basis, it is not murder. It's a good option to consider when there's years of suffering in the individual's future.

Last, if euthanasia isn't made legal, society will just continue to see suicide rates increase. If the individuals can't legally get help with ending their lives, they will just take matters into their own hands. The problem with this is there are too many incidents of suicide attempts gone wrong. A lot of times the individual is not successful and only hurts themselves worse than they were before. If euthanasia were made legal, this would help insure that things go accordingly, and the individual would pass away peacefully.

In closing, euthanasia should be an individual's legal right to choose. The government should not be allowed to stop an individual from wanting to end their suffering. People who have the opinion to keep euthanasia illegal may be thinking that it's murder. Other people who have the opinion to legalize euthanasia may see that life is theirs and theirs only. Regardless, there are two very important things to be said about euthanasia: it gives people the opportunity to die with dignity and it helps them to avoid suffering.
