MANY FOREIGNERS ARE LIVING AND WORKING IN VIETNAM

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF FOREINERS IN YOUR COUNTRY?

After joining AFTA and WTO, there are many Vietnamese people go abroad for working by work permit in most Asian countries as Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Korea...some others go to Africa, America or Europe.

On other hand, there are many foreigners go to Vietnam by both tourist visa and work permit. They come from nearly 60 countries from USA, Africa to China...Report by Ministry of Labor, the number of foreigners working in Vietnam is nearly 80,000, of whom over 27,000 have no work permits.

When foreigners arrive Vietnam, they take new culture, tradition and language into places where they live.

FOREIGNERS WITH WORK PERMIT

- First of all, foreigners go to Vietnam for investment in any field as land, retail or wholesale, bank or capital as Big C, Metro, AIA, ANZ, HSBC...they help develop economic and creat a lot of jobs for both local labors and foreign labors.

- Many senior personnels in big corporations, joint venture companies or foreign companies are foreigners and their gross income is very high. They have to pay income taxes for Vietnam. It is not small income for revenue.

- When foreigners live and work in Vietnam, with higher income and living standard, they will stimulate consumption, especially brands and luxury goods.

- In some provinces, the foreigners are huge and they created a new foreign village with specific culture, example chinatown in District 5, Hochiminh city and Binh Duong province, European town in Nghi Tam, Hanoi or Korean town in Trung Hoa-Nhan Chinh, Caugiay, Hanoi...In those areas, Vietnamese people can easy to connect with foreigners and learn foreign languages faster.

- There are many young foreigners who are living and working in Vietnam get married with native Vietnamese created multi-cultural lifestyle, activites and language where they live.

FOREIGNERS WITHOUT WORK PERMIT

- Because the cost of living in Vietnam is lower than most countries in Southeast Asia and around the world so workers from Africa or Asia as Bangladesh, India, China or Philippines are happy to work and live in Vietnam. Foreign workers are also ready to work in remote places or at times when local workers would not.

- In some provinces have recently attracted an increasing numbers of foreign people with tourist visas working illegally for various local firms due to lax management.

- There are around 35.000 Chinese people living and working in Vietnam now. Most of them go into Vietnam by frontiers and borders as Mong Cai (Quang Ninh), Tan Thanh-Huu Nghi (Lang Son), Ha Khau (Lao Cai)...with tourist visas and illigal working at industrial zones or construction projects
